Water Quality Comes Under The Consumer Microscope

Water quality is getting a lot more scrutiny these days. And that’s a good thing says Russ Swerdfeger, Global Director of Memcor Product Management with Evoqua. Alongside his colleague Daryl Weatherup, Director of Marketing with Evoqua, Swerdfeger recently discussed the future of drinking water and the key issues and concerns facing the water industry right now with Water Talk.

“If we think back to a year ago, everyone was talking about the lead pipe issue in Flint, MI,” explained Swerdfeger. “That has heightened awareness around the distribution chemistry, and you’re starting to see a flow down effect, where people want to be more aware of their filtration.”

Weatherup agreed. “Reliable service is important, but on top of that, we also need to make sure that the quality is where we claim it to be,” he said. “I think that that’s an intense focus for not only suppliers, but the water utilities providing that service.”
